Visit An Old School Mate at Matang 1January 2015

Dr Noor Azmi, an old schoolmate, informed us that he intended to visit an old friend who is now wheelchair bound. His name is Ismail. Which Ismail, i asked, because there were two Ismail that i knew from school. Shaheri posted a school pic of the Ismail being mentioned. Oh, that Ismail. The funny guy who told funny stories and made us laughed. Seemed that, Ismail had a mishap at work some years ago and could not walk anymore. Dr Noor Azmi suggested that all of us contribute some cash and invited anyone to join him to visit Ismail. The suggested date was 1 Jan 2015.
The week before the planned date, I had fever and flu. I was worried that I could not make the trip to Taiping. Thankfully, the fever broke, only, the cough remained.
On New Year's Day, I drove to my hometown. The meeting point was the KFC at Simpang at 3.00 PM. The weather was fine, traffic along the highway to the North was smooth.
After exiting the PLUS Highway at Changkat Jering around 1.45 PM,  I headed straight away to the Hotel Flemington to quickly check-in. As I entered my room, I received a phone call from Ban Heng. He said he was having lunch at the Hotel and asked whether he could go to Simpang with me. I agreed. At 2.30 PM, after a short rest, I met Ban Heng at the hotel lobby, we depart for Simpang.

Upon reaching KFC Simpang, Dr Azmi messaged that he might be arriving later at 4.00 PM. He was still involved in the visits and dispensing aid to the flood victims near Bagan Serai area.

At the meeting point, there were already a few of the Old Boys gathered - Ahmad Salleh, Jamaie, Hanapiah, Azman Hussein, Mohamad Shah, Khairul Anuar, Asri and Razif. We chatted of old times while awaiting for the arrival of Dr Azmi. Eventually, he arrive by about 3.45PM.

We car-pooled into 3 cars to go to Ismail Awang's house. The house is situated near Kampung Kertang, Matang. At the house, we were greeted by Ismail and members of his family.

Over tea and local kuih, we talked of Ismail's condition and welfare. Stories of our old school days were also part of the conversation. We chatted and laughed during the 2 hours visit. Before our departure, the token of cash collection was passed to Ismail. We had a group photo taken to commemorate this visit.

By 6.00 PM, we bade farewell to Ismail.

It was a very happy and meaningful visit.

Old Edwardians Reunion Dinner KL 2014.

The OEAKL Reunion Dinner was held on 20 December 2014 at the Vistana Hotel, near Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. The MCE 1978 boys took one table out of 20. Out of the 10 who intended to come, only 8 turned up. The ones who came were - Zamzam, Hamid Osman, Hariri, Mohamad Rawi, Azman Hussain, Ramli, Shaheri and myself.

Of course, other tables were filled up with the OEs of several generations and of various age groups. The 1997 boys even have their own uniformed shirts.

The evening was opened by the Organizing Chairman, En Jalil and OE Association Malaysia President, Hj Mohaideen.

The dinner was splendid- lamb rendang, lamb soup, grilled chicken, gado-gado and assorted fruits and cakes for dessert.

There was a band that provided entertainment. The band was headed by an OE - Shaharudin, my junior from Taiping. As usual, several OEs took the micro-phone and hemmed up the night with various oldies and goldies of 1970s songs.

After the dinner closed at 11.00 PM, we adjourned at a nearby mamak restaurant to continue our chit-chat and BS about our good old school days. We quit the night by 1.30 AM.

My sister Eliza could not attend my daughter's wedding.

My sister, Eliza, telephoned us this evening to inform that she could not attend my daughter's wedding in May 2015.
Ah! A minor set back because she is the person I would refer to for advise.
Well! I hope her eldest son, Ezham and a few other members of our family could help.
I pray things will work out good.

Cameron Highlands- 8.4 million football fields cleared off forest?

One of my favourite Malaysian holiday spot is the Cameron Highlands. Why I enjoy to visit CH is the fresh cool mountain air, green forest and plantation, tea and scones, strawberry and cream.
What I read in the papers today is very sad news. Very large tracts of forest continue to be cleared, as large as Putra Jaya! No wonder CH is hit by annual floods and landslides badly.
When will people ever learn, if you mess with nature, nature will hit you back in return. And when it hits back, devastation will come.
Sad to see CH continue to be damaged like this.

Marah, Fed Up, Geram Pen Dua Mata Merah Hitam

Celaka sungguh orang yang cipta pen dua mata merah dan hitam. Aku ni dah tak dapat bezakan dua warna ink tu. Habis rosak borang permohonan pinjaman pendidikan MARA untuk anak aku. Dateline dah dekat. Mana cukup masa lagi nak print lain. Lepas tu nakkena sain saksi la, sain suruhanjaya sumpah lagi.
Aduh sakitnya hati!!!
